Hello Philip, great letter and reminder that you don't need to get fancy gadegts to sleep. I however wonder if you want to write up about mental state like feeling anxious about something and its effect on sleep. I often find myself unable to sleep well when there is something important happening on next day.
Thank you Hemant. This is a great and relevant question.
Stress can be brutal and sometimes it is unavoidable. Here are two things I would say as a response that might be helpful.
1. We want to do the 1 through 6 religiously. We want to have a full day with body movement early and when we get into bed, we want to be spent. This gives us a better chance to fall asleep quickly because our body is ready to rest.
2. We want to put ourselves in a position to handle stress well. The way we handle stress better is by making our mind and body more stress tolerant. The way we do this is by building resilience.
There are multiple factors which contribute to building resilience. The big three are Movement, Nutrition, and Rest.
but I am still working on this model and will have an update coming in the next few months.
When we have built resilience, we become more ready and able to cope with the inevitable stressors of the day and we wake up each morning better equipped to take on that new day filled with challenges.
