Bravo! Way too many folks overthink all of this and flood the internet with pointless over-analysis.
I likewise just eat lots of veggies, salads, no junkfood (and yeah, we all know what "junkfood" is, this is another thing that gets over-analyzed), no alcohol. No "off days" - this is your life now, not something you pick up and put down.
I run minimum 12 miles a day, most days 14. I also do basic strength training but nothing crazy. But I exercise every day, no exceptions.
I don't overthink equipment, stats, data, or anything else. I wear a smartwatch but I could go without it.
Thanks for the shout Random User! Yes, I just want to keep it simple. We make things too complicated, especially keeping healthy. Also, you sound like an amazing runner so kudos right backatcha!!
Smiles Brother Phil, looking good sir! I feel ya and the advice is truly excellent. I myself eat generally in the afternoon as well. The nice thing I have found since changing my eating habits and structure is that I am never full, but always satisfied and tastes so much better. also now, I like certain vegetables that never appealed to me. much love from PRX2
I do many of the same things. I’m 71 years old, 5’ 11”, weigh 175 pounds and fortunately never had a weight problem. I eat healthy and do drink alcohol sometimes. Have no heart or blood pressure problems and no medications. I have always exercised, still do, and in recent years learned and practiced Krav Maga, and just joined a F45 gym.
btw, I swapped out NaCl this year for KCl [to lower my bp]: it works
I was surprised to note that after a few weeks my appetite was suppressed [I still fixed the same amount of food for dinner, but stopped halfway through because I wasn't hungry]
Potassium is the body's intra cellular electrolyte; Sodium is the principal extra cellular electrolyte [high sodium levels exert an osmotic force, pulling H2O out of tissues into the blood and increasing bp]. Potassium doesn't have this effect; also, no effect on hydration or stamina.
I would recommend experimenting with it to see what you think [the biggest difference is the taste; it's kind of metallic]
Anything you can do to lower weight when you're > 40 years is of benefit, and, in doing this you lower your bp, too.

I've lost 6 kg [13.2 lb].
Cheers, Phil
Glad to hear it about the blood pressure. Does it affect your exercise at all or hydration?
Nice, brother on the weight!! Go Chuck!!!!
